Why should you vote?

ASI Student Government is responsible for many initiatives that affect all aspects of student life. From big projects, like free menstrual products in restrooms, the Esports Lounge, the Laurén Chalmers ‘83 Beach Pantry and so much more, ASI Student Government makes waves of difference within the Beach community.

On campus, there’s a plethora of student advocates dedicated to enhancing the student experience at Long Beach State University (LBSU), including electable positions such as ASI president, ASI executive vice president and ASI vice president of finance. These positions serve as the forefront of student governance, ensuring that the diverse needs of the student body are met.

Additionally, ASI senators and ASI At-Large senators play a vital role in targeting specific needs within each college, such as the College of Business or College of Liberal Arts. Serving as liaisons between students and administration, ASI senators advocate for policies and resources that benefit their respective academic communities.

Alongside these elected officials, the University Student Union and Student Recreation & Wellness Center Board of Trustees (UREC BOT) oversee the two facilities, including the programs, services and buildings themselves. UREC BOT trustees work diligently to provide a wide range of services that students can utilize throughout their time on campus.

These student leaders actively address campus issues and cater to student needs, they have the power to shape the long-term trajectory of our university.
