Dec. 15 Update: Devices are available for pick up at the University Student Union at the entrance to the Games Center (near the Bank of America/Chase ATM) as follows: December 14 – 16, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. We will be closed for distribution for the holidays (December 17, 2020 – January 3, 2021). Starting January 4, 2021, students wishing to pick-up a laptop/hotspot can pick up between Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. For any questions, please contact USU Information Center at (562) 985-4834 or emailing ASI-StudentUnion@csulb.edu

Going to school from home has changed the environment of learning, but the quality does not have to be affected too. For students needing academic resources, the University Student Union (USU) is hosting the CSULB Technology Loan program, providing students with laptop and hotspot loans.

"The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) received funding through a grant to purchase these essential items for our students. We know that not everyone has access to laptop or internet services, and this is where the program comes in, students can get a loan for the materials they need and use them for the semester," said USU Commercial Services Coordinator, Becky Carranza.

Currently enrolled Long Beach State students are eligible for the program. Requests for equipment can be made online at this link. After the request is received, a confirmation email will be sent.

Materials are available for pick-up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. To pick-up loaned items, students must follow COVID-19 campus procedures. The student must complete the COVID-19 prescreen survey on their single-sign on portal at least four hours before coming to campus. In accordance with the protocols, students can enter the USU through the food court area. Upon entry, the Building Manager will review the approval green checkmark from their COVID-19 prescreen survey. After, they will be directed to the Information Center to retrieve their items.

Graduating students with outstanding rentals will receive an email in December with instructions on returning the equipment. For returning students, materials can be kept until the end of the spring 2021 semester.
