Every year, your student government works tirelessly to promote student voices on campus and abroad. Thanks to the Lobby Corps, a sub-committee of the Associated Students Senate, this goal is well within reach.
There are a few ways students can impact change, but the clearest and most direct way is our right to vote. With the 2020 election on the horizon, and the presidential primaries right around the corner, now is the time to register to vote and ensure your voice is heard.
“Our goal at the Lobby Corps is to create a culture of civic engagement here at LBSU,” Chief Government Relations Officer Precious Padilla said. “Having more students involved in the democratic process dramatically increases our chances of improving life at The Beach.”
In honor of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 24, your student representatives will set up shop outside the Coffee Bean in the University Student Union for our first voter registration drive. Stop by between classes, fill out a quick form and vote in the upcoming elections!
This drive is the first of several efforts to grow and improve advocacy among the student body. The Lobby Corps will run other voter registration drives, Advocacy Day and legislate visits throughout the school year. Keep an eye out for these important events, and be sure to put your vote to good use when the time comes!
