Kbeach Radio will represent CSULB at this month’s Beach Streets Downtown, an event put on by the City of Long Beach where the entirety of Broadway Street will be closed down to cars and opened to pedestrians for a good, old-fashioned block party.
“We’re excited to be officially involved this time and are excited to get involved with the City of Long Beach, having fun broadcasting the event live as much as we can,” said Kbeach Station Operations Manager Christian Wiseman. “Not many cities have something like this where they block off an entire street and allow for community fun—even bands performing at various points.”
With concerts, festivals, kids’ zones and food tastings, Beach Streets will completely transform downtown Long Beach. The only transportation will take place on bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and feet—and our very own Kbeach radio will be there to engage with the community.
“I’m looking forward to interacting with people,” said Wiseman. “It’s not often we get a chance to go out into the community and do outreach and live broadcasts. I’m also looking forward to broadcasting the bands that are playing.”
Beach Streets Downtown will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. For more information, visit www.longbeach.gov/beachstreets/.
