Smorgasport is an action-packed event you do not want to miss! After all, who would say no to free games and rides? The carnival is for currently enrolled Long Beach State University (LBSU) students with a valid student ID and will be held by the College of Business (COB) in parking lots E1 and G3 and will run from 6 to 10 p.m!
Before entering the event, all attendees must sign a waiver (“ASI Waiver”), which can be accessed on the Single Sign-On portal. Once students demonstrate that they have signed their waiver and show their green check mark, they will receive a wristband. The wristband is required to participate in any and all events—it is the key to a fun and exciting evening! Be sure to arrive early because Beach Pride Events (BPE) expects around 6,000 students or more to attend.
Every year, the planning for this event starts earlier and earlier. After six months of meticulous planning, BPE began researching activities around late April and have dedicated themselves to the event since, according to Angeles Vazquez, Lead Event Assistant.
“Looking ahead, future events will offer even more opportunities for students to connect and grow, including mindfulness activities, cultural celebrations, and initiatives focused on diversity and inclusion,” says Vazquez. To ensure we are meeting students' needs, the ASI Communications team will conduct a survey during the event. Students who participate will be entered into a drawing for some awesome prizes, and they will provide the necessary feedback to ensure that each year the event gets better and better.
Vazquez attended her first Smorgasport last fall in 2023. At the time, she did not know many people on campus. Vazquez followed her friend throughout Smorgasport who introduced her to many people. This led to the start of some meaningful friendships while participating in giveaways, inflatable races, matching airbrush tattoos, and dancing the night away.
“Smorgasport was one of the highlights of my most pivotal year of college,” says Vice President of Finance, Andre Achacon. “I hope to see everyone there.” Last year, Achacon’s favorite Smorgasport activity was the free roller skating.
But this year we decided to include Lazer tag for those with a competitive spirit to battle against other teams. Why did the laser go to Smorgasport? To lighten up the atmosphere.
Don’t miss out on this electrifying event! We look forward to seeing you there and making this Smorgasport the best one yet!
