Halloween is here! Have you locked in your costume for next Thursday?
According to the National Retail Federation, the average American spent about $36 on a costume in 2023 and expects costs to rise in the following years. Yet costumes on Amazon and Party City average around $30 – $50 this year.
For many Beach students, that just is not an option considering the inflated costs of rent, utilities, gas, and food. Also, who needs an overpriced Sabrina Carpenter or Chappell Roan costume?!
But fear no more, there are numerous low-cost/low-effort costumes for you and your friends to try out that are part of the current pop-culture zeitgeist.
Some of these options could already be in your closet, you just need a one-piece accessory or a quick thrifting trip. If you are stuck, check out these six costume ideas for your next spooky event!

For the past year or two, Sonny Angels have been all the rage! With their many variations, this costume is perfect for groups of friends. Their cute little hats can be paired with matching crewnecks, and you can find the hats on Amazon for no more than $20.
