Get Into the Spirit of November
Are midterms still eating you up? Experiencing anxiety before the end of the semester? November is the month to let go and hang out with your friends. This is the time to do fun activities before the stressful holiday season. Here are some ideas to get you into the November mood!
Friendsgiving Feast
Gather your pals for a tasty feast! Friendsgiving is all about getting together and creating memories, making this the perfect addition to your November activities. Take the opportunity to try new recipes and eat to your heart’s content. Dive into some gooey caramel apples, savory stuffing, or yummy mac and cheese. Any of these options are bound to make your Friendsgiving one to remember. Still looking for recipes? Check out the ASI Beach Kitchen and their Pass the Plate series! Learn new dishes to make for your upcoming Friendsgiving!
Community Service
Consider volunteering or donating to organizations that help with hunger and homelessness! It’s worthwhile to give back to your community and make a difference in the lives of others. You can check out some groups close to home or help your fellow Beach community members with the Fraternity & Sorority Life Food Drive Competition! All proceeds from this event go towards the Laurén Chalmers ‘83 Beach Pantry, an ASI program that helps students facing food insecurity.
Farmers Markets
Everybody loves a farmers market moment, especially during the brisk autumn months. Check out nearby cities that host farmers markets, where you can purchase food, flowers, or produce. This is also a great way to give back to small businesses! ASI’s Weekly Farmers Market is right here on campus for you to try! There are several vendors and restaurants to explore within the Beach community.
Reading
November is the time to pull out a good book and coz>y up with a warm blanket. Pick out your favorite thriller, romance, or fantasy novel to get into the reading spirit. You can do this solo or get involved! Enter your Rory Gilmore era with a book club! Not only will this keep you disciplined with reading, but it’s a great way to connect with others and make new friends. Look into the Student Recreation & Wellness Center’s (SRWC) Beach Balance Book Club if you’re interested in wellness-related content!
Taking these ideas into consideration, start forming your November bucket list! Use this month to destress before finals and have fun with friends or family. Whether you cook something, give back to the community, or read a new book, make the most of November and commence the end of the fall semester!
