An Evening With: Shiza Shahid

ASI is proud to present a night filled with activism, entrepreneurship and inspiration with “An Evening With: Shiza Shahid!”

Shiza Shahid is best known for her grassroots work with Malala Yousafzai -- the young Pakistani student who was shot for speaking out in favor of education for girls -- and the Yousafzai family in setting up the Malala Fund.

As CEO and co-founder of the Malala Fund, Shahid helped bring education to girls in Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and more. In addition to her work with the Malala Fund, she also co-founded NOW Ventures in 2017, which helps fund startup companies whose goal is to make the world a better place.

“I think it’s amazing that we’re having such a strong and empowering woman come speak to us,” said ASI communications assistant and fourth-year journalism student Logan Cross. “Her story is so inspiring and I can’t wait to hear what she has to share!”

An Evening With: Shiza Shahid will take place on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. in the USU Ballrooms. The event is free to all LBSU students. Tickets will be distributed at the USU Info & Ticket Center on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are sold out. If still available, tickets will be open to faculty and staff starting Nov. 20.
