Books, coffee, Netflix, late nights and last-minute cramming—finals week is here! In their semesterly tradition, the University Student Union (USU) will be presenting the campus with a rock ‘n’ roll-themed finals week schedule of events.
Packed with free food and services as well as a number of vendors and activities, the USU hopes to make this year’s finals week an opportunity for students to de-stress, enjoy themselves and socialize amidst their studying.
“Finals week is very stressful for students, so I think this is a great escape and mental rest period for them,” said graduating senior and USU Programming Assistant Megann Jenkins. “There’s also free food, coffee, snacks and scantrons that students can grab on the go!”
Vendors will include balloon artists, henna artists and caricature artists to help get students minds off finals for a bit. Activities will include button-making, cornhole, basketball shoot-outs and other rock ‘n’ roll-themed games. There also will be massages, do-it-yourself arts and crafts and free food and bowling for students. Everything will take place in either the lobby of the Student Recreation & Wellness Center or in the main walkway on the second floor of the USU near the Information & Ticket Center.
“Since we are students ourselves we know how overwhelming and hectic things are during finals week,” said Jenkins. “These events are planned to help everyone take a step back, breathe and refocus after studying so much. That’s why I think it’s essential to have these kinds of activities on campus during finals.”
The activities will all take place from Monday, May 9, to Friday, May 13. For information on dates and times, check out our design below or visit www.beachpride.com.
