Big things are happening at Long Beach State! Have you heard about the Future U Project?
The Future U Project is an exciting, student-driven campaign to reimagine and transform the University Student Union (USU) into a space that’s bigger, better and built for you.
We’ve listened to your feedback at events like Week of Welcome, Smorgasport and ASI Nights, where you shared your ideas for the USU. From more food options and comfortable places to lounge to better workspaces and upgraded amenities, your input has helped shape the vision for the new USU.
What’s in store?
Want a sneak peek at what’s coming? Visit the Future U website to explore renderings and conceptual designs. Get ready for a space designed to elevate your campus experience and give you more of what you love!
Food, Services and More During Construction
To keep the transformation on track, the USU will temporarily close from August 2025 to Summer 2028 (dates subject to change). But don’t worry—your favorite food spots and services will relocate across campus during this time! Check out the
Future U website for updates on where to find them and what’s available.
What’s Changing?
To bring this incredible project to life, the USU fee will increase to $255 per semester starting Fall 2025. This fee ensures the construction, renovations, services and staffing can meet your needs and is adjusted every three years based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
