Our student leaders already do a great deal of work for us, but now you get to see them sweat – and for a good cause!
Several CSULB Associated Students, Inc. student leaders will be participating in the Los Angeles Marathon on Feb. 14 as a fundraising effort for low-income students.
“Their goal is to fundraise as much as possible so that they may give scholarships to several well deserving CSULB students,” said ASI Interim Communications and Special Projects Manager James Ahumada. “The funds raised through this effort will be targeted to assist students who can’t get help from their parents, are struggling financially and in some cases, are living below the federal poverty level.”
The marathon will take place on a course between Santa Monica and Downtown LA, comprising 26.2 miles.
“Student leaders who have been spearheading this effort said that they were inspired to start this fund by the countless friends they saw while growing up who were unable to pursue higher education simply because their families couldn’t afford it,” said Ahumada. “These are the types of students this fund will help.”
