2. Visit the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Gardens
The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a crowned jewel on campus and an oasis of peace, serenity and beauty on campus. Come visit for a quiet retreat, photo opportunity, or to simply explore the various plants and wildlife. 3. Kayak through the Naples Canals
This Italian-inspired Long Beach neighborhood is famous for its gorgeous houses and boats, wide canals, and excellent shopping and restaurants nearby. 4. Hop on a Bicycle!
Long Beach has a biking culture unlike anywhere else. With 156 miles of easy, accessible bikeways along the beach, popular streets and cultural hubs, cycling is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the heartbeat of the city. And you don’t need to own a bicycle to do it! Long Beach has a stellar bike share program with 400 bikes and 60 stations around Long Beach – rent a bike, cruise around and drop it off at the next station. 5. Smorgasport!
This 17th annual student-favorite sunset carnival will end your summer festivities in the right way! Smorgasport will kick off the school year with inflatables, rides and carnival games, as well as food trucks, music and live student performances. The first 1,000 students to arrive will get a free T-shirt! Admission is free and open to all students, and the event will take place on August 24 from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. in Parking Lot E2 and the University Student Union.
