The ASI Recycling Center was founded by Long Beach State University (LBSU) students following the inaugural Earth Day in the 1970s. ASI Recycling has grown from a handful of containers to a highly regarded recycling center serving LBSU students and the greater Long Beach area. The ASI Recycling Center is also the only CRV (California Redemption Value) buyback center in the CSU system. Along with purchasing all CRV containers, ASI Recycling also accepts donated materials, and provides recycling pickups for the USU, 49er Shops, LBSU facilities, Hillside and Parkside dormitories and dining halls, and the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center. The center also functions as a drop off site for food donations for the ASI Beach Pantry. Additionally, ASI Recycling hosts tours for campus and community groups, providing education to the Long Beach community in order to do its part in creating a greener world.
Located at 5800 Atherton St., between major cross streets Bellflower Boulevard and Palo Verde Avenue, ASI Recycling offers a friendly environment and quick, on-site payout for CRV materials. We also accept donated material:
- Aluminum Cans
- Glass Bottles
- Bi-metal Cans
- Plastics #1-7
- Scrap Metal
- Non-Perishable Food (for the ASI Beach Pantry)
Working in tandem with the dining halls, ASI Recycling also has begun servicing compostable material from the Hillside Dining Hall, in efforts to track and best handle food waste on campus. We look forward to serving you!
