Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State University (LBSU) Associated Students, Inc. facilities, which include the University Student Union (USU), Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC), Isabel Patterson Child Development Center and ASI Recycling Center will be participating in the "Great ShakeOut" annual state-wide earthquake drill on Thursday, October 19 at 10:19 a.m. and 10:19 p.m.
Each year, International ShakeOut Day occurs on October 19, when millions of people across the world practice in the "drop, cover and hold on" techniques. Following the recent 7.1 earthquake in Mexico and 3.6 earthquake in Westwood, California the drill is especially crucial for proper earthquake preparation.
As major facilities on campus, the USU, SRWC and Recycling Center will participate in the drill and notify tenants and users of the buildings of instructions. For more information about Great ShakeOut 2017 visit www.shakeout.org.
