Coronavirus Chronicles: 5 Habits for A Productive Quarantine
Published: Thursday, 16 April 2020
Hello there! Welcome to an article full of the best tips and tricks to have the most productive quarantine possible! This week’s top 5 things are all about stress reduction and getting to a calm headspace. Check them out below.
- Make 9 a.m. your new best friend: 9 a.m. -- the perfect time between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. to kickstart your day. This way you get to eat three meals instead of two and watch more TV shows too! Try setting an alarm every day for 9 a.m. with your favorite song. This way waking up earlier is painless, fun and simple to add to your daily routine.
- Airplane Mode will have you reaching for the sky: Putting your phone on Airplane Mode from when you wake up to when you finish homework allows your mind to feel free, creative and de-cluttered. Your mental state will thank you later for turning off the hundreds of notifications you’re bombarded with daily.
- Get your workout in with a YouTube Trainer: Motivating yourself to workout daily is super hard, especially when your house is clearly not a gym. A way to motivate yourself is using your phone, TV, or laptop to play music or a workout video. You can try Ryan Jabola’s at-home workout, or the interactive videos by MadFit on YouTube. Either way you’re getting up, being active and detoxifying your body!
- Make Group Calls with Your Friends/Family A Priority: At least once a day whether it’s in the afternoon or evening, make a point to chat with your close friends or family. Try using Zoom or the Facetime multi-call feature and get some face-to-face time with those that support you the most. Avoid the isolation blues by making online interactions fun and make each call a “party.” Have each person bring a hang-out snack and dress up in their favorite attire! Not only does it make you feel like a million bucks, but it encourages laughter and fun conversation.
- Plan Out Your Mealtimes: Planning out when you’re going to eat is super helpful especially when you’re stuck in the house all day. Making a point to eat your meals at specific times keeps your productivity up and fuels your mind. This way you are set in a routine and can nourish your body properly when you’re sitting doing homework or chilling watching TV!
