Have you ever considered doing a triathlon, marathon or some weightlifting challenge at a local gym? You don't have to wait to test your limits and beat a fitness challenge - the SRWC has five fun challenges you can engage in right now!
Owen's Condition for Tuition
Need an incentive to exercise? Free tuition might work! Each student who joins Owen's Condition for Tuition and works out for at least a 30-minute session can log their efforts at the front desk to accumulate points. Students complete the program after submitting 50 entries within an academic year, which automatically enters them into an opportunity drawing to win a semester of free tuition. Stop by the front desk to sign up at any time completely free!
150 Dare
If you're a cardio-lover, 150 DARE is for you. Step up to log at least 150 miles throughout the spring semester and receive a 150 DARE T-shirt! Any type of cardio that can log or record mileage is eligible, including any SRWC cardio machines (elliptical, bike, rower or treadmill). Stop by the fitness desk today to sign up and learn more!
Mile High Challenge
One mile - 5,280 feet, 211 climbs up and down the 25-foot rock wall. Think you got what it takes? Prove your climbing mastery by participating in the Mile High Challenge, and win a T-shirt! Climbers can participate any day during the semester during ROA hours at the rock wall. Visit the rock wall equipment window to learn more!
Belay a Mile Challenge
Combine climbing with getting social and make some friends at the rock wall with the Belay a Mile Challenge! You have all semester to collectively belay a full mile for fellow rock wall climbers; if you complete a mile, or 211 climbs, you get a prize! Join any day during the semester during ROA hours.
Swim into Shape
Challenge yourself in the water with the Swim Into Shape challenge! Swim 20 miles or more throughout the semester, and you'll be rewarded with a free, humble-brag T-shirt. The challenge began January 24 and will end May 3 at the Aquatics Center. Visit the Aquatics Center to learn more!
"By participating in these challenges, you're gaining a lifelong skillset, you're honing in on your particular hobby or exercise, and you're meeting people and making new friends," said Outdoor Adventures and Wellness Coordinator Chris Huebner. "This is what creates community at the SRWC."
