Homecoming is fast approaching, kicking off basketball season at the Beach with a spirited tailgate. Full of carnival food, tailgate games and buzzing music, this annual party is one you’ll hate to miss!
For decades, Homecoming has acted as a staple public event which brings together the CSULB community and the general Long Beach community for a vibrant celebration. Attendees can play games or get giveaways from student organizations, fraternities and sororities, or try exhilarating amusement rides and dance to music provided by community favorite Kbeach Radio.
“Basketball is one of our bigger sports campus-wide, so this is a great way to build up Long Beach pride overall by hyping up students and our campus community,” said fourth year accounting major and Beach Pride Programs Assistant Brandon Ayala. “We partner with alumni groups to keep our relationship with past students strong.”
This event is brought to you by ASI Beach Pride Events, in collaboration with CSULB Athletics, Alumni Relations and many other campus partners. The celebration will entail several entertainment options, including henna, caricature and balloon artists, several rides and jumpers and bounce houses.
“It’s definitely high-energy; there’s a lot going on,” said Ayala. “It’s extremely lively, friendly and everybody’s ready to have fun. The game heightens energy a ton, and as soon as tip-off begins, everyone goes crazy!”
One of the most popular games of the season, Homecoming is packed with plenty of hype. And, as always, a Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during the halftime show.
The basketball game is free for students with ID. The festivities will take place on Saturday, November 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the basketball game against Caltech immediately following. For more information, visit www.csulb.edu/homecoming.
