Long Beach, Calif. - April 20, 2016 - Student short films will be showcased and awarded at the second annual Beach Film Fest Finale this Thursday at Cal State Long Beach.
The finale is hosted by the CSULB Film Club, USU Program Council and College Beat TV and will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 pm campus in the University Student Union Beach Auditorium.
“One of the true purposes of the event is to give students another creative outlet to showcase their talents and get involved in a fun film-based event on campus,” said USU Interim Program Manager Taylor Buhler Scott in a recent interview with the Daily 49er.
The films are judged by a wide array of judges including industry professionals, faculty and alumni. In addition to the film screenings and award show, a reception will take place with refreshments and a red carpet for professional photos.
The Beach Film Fest consisted of a “Film-In-A-Week” competition, which required students to film their projects within 10 days (March 11 – 21), and a “Pre-Made Film” competition, in which students could enter projects that were filmed after Jan. 1, 2015. A total of 10 entries will be showcased at the finale.
“It’s always cool to see your film being screened for the student body—that’s a reward in itself,” said College Beat TV Chief Executive Producer Nicole Illagan.
