First off, I want to thank Vice President Musman and the Senate for allowing me to deliver the Fall 2017 State of the Associated Students address. As a former senator, I know the hard work that goes into fulfilling the duties of your positions. You face the challenges that accompany the positions you hold, and you continue to overcome adversity in your personal lives as students of Long Beach State.
I think I speak for all of us when I say the past several weeks have been both disheartening and hopeful. I was pleased to see so many people and organizations stand up to Harvey Weinstein, Amazon's chief of programming Roy Price, and the many other offenders in the stories shared through the #metoo social media movement.
Initially I wanted to share my convocation remarks with you in this first edition of Beachfront for the year, but given the recent events I would rather share my views on DACA.
As the academic year comes to a close, many students are beginning their search for a summer job and/or internship.
