The ASI Beach Pantry operates as the official food pantry for Long Beach State students. The pantry provides non-perishable food items for students in need. An initiative spanning two ASI executive administrations, ASI Vice President Logan Vournas spearheaded the food pantry project into fruition in fall 2016. Also housed in the Beach Pantry will be the Student Swap Shop program, aimed at providing students with the opportunity to swap unneeded or old school supplies, like books, notebooks and other items essential to education.
Services
The ASI Beach Pantry is open to currently enrolled LBSU students. Stop by and pick up FREE groceries this week! An appointment must be made prior to your visit. For more information, read below:
Dates and Times: Appointments are available daily, Monday through Friday between the hours of 10 AM to 2 PM, and 5 to 7 PM. Saturday hours are set by appointment only.
Location: The ASI Beach Pantry is on the first floor of the University Student Union (USU), USU-116. Enter using the outside entrance to the left of the USU Games Center.
Safety Protocols: All campus visitors must follow required LBSU safety protocols to help prevent the spread of the virus. View the campus requirements at www.csulb.edu/covid-19.
Students can use the ASI Beach Pantry three times a week and receive no more than five items* per visit.
*It is highly encouraged to take an assortment of items for a well-balanced meal.

On average, the Laurén Chalmers '83 Beach Pantry serves over 1000 students each week, and your donations go a long way to combat food insecurity on campus.

An initiative spanning two ASI executive administrations, 2015 ASI Vice President Miriam Hernández and 2016 ASI Vice President Logan Vournas spearheaded the food pantry project into fruition in fall 2016. Also housed in the Laurén Chalmers '83 Beach Pantry will be the Student Swap Shop program, aimed at providing students with the opportunity to swap unneeded or old school supplies, like books, notebooks and other items essential to education.

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) at Long Beach State University (LBSU) proudly presents the opening of the dedicated and newly named Laurén Chalmers '83 Beach Pantry. Through a transformational gift from alumna Laurén Chalmers, we are privileged to dedicate the beloved ASI Beach Pantry in tribute to Chalmers' enduring legacy.
As an alumna of LBSU, Laurén Chalmers earned her Bachelor of Science in marketing in 1983. During her time on campus, she was an active member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She also dedicates her time to several charitable causes, including St. Margaret's Episcopal School and JSerra Catholic High School. Laurén currently holds a position on the Board of Trustees for the Orange County Museum of Art.
The Laurén Chalmers '83 Beach Pantry will continue its mission to provide essential resources to address food insecurity on our campus in perpetuity, offering a welcoming and inclusive space for the Beach student community.

Curbside Service:
The Laurén Chalmers '83 Beach Pantry offers curbside bag pickup. This service is for students who are unable to visit the pantry. Appointments are available Fridays between 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays between 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Students will be able to create an online shopping cart. If you are interested in this program, please EMAIL asi-pantry@csulb.edu to receive instructions. Once you have registered, you will be able to make an appointment and shop.
About
USU Beach Balance program provides the Long Beach State community with health and wellness services to enhance the quality of life through mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. USU Beach Balance was created in spring 2019 to expand the many services already offered at the Student Recreation & Wellness (SRWC) Beach Balance office. The expansion office is located in University Student Union (USU) Room 313. Both areas aim to promote personal well-being, from a holistic approach, by empowering members of the LBSU community to make healthy lifestyle choices. Programs and services are offered to:
- Help the community improve their interpersonal development
- Decrease stress levels
- And gain knowledge from a variety of formats
- Full body massage chairs - RSVP for a 20-minute session using the SRWC Go app
- Blood pressure testing & monitoring
- Pulse oximetry, biofeedback, body weight scales
- And BMI/body fat testing
Introducing the Relaxation Station: Located in the Wellness Room, the USU Beach Balance office offers a centralized location for your relaxation needs! From meditation to health and wellness reading materials and art therapy, the Relaxation Station offers all of these relaxation methods during all hours of operation!
Beach Balance is constantly expanding and creating new special events such as Meal Prep 101, Meditation Special, Plant a Plant, DIY Wellness Hour, Dog Therapy, and Aromatherapy. Special events and services are provided in both the USU and SRWC locations.
