Join the Student Recreation & Wellness Center's (SRWC) Rock & Outdoor Adventure (ROA) to learn technical rock climbing skills during free weekly classes! Dress ready to climb and move around as you put your skills to the test. All necessary climbing gear is provided by the SRWC's ROA department. Classes are in-person and are first-come, first-served, so make sure to arrive early!
Are you a seasoned climber and looking for more of a challenge? Custom/advanced climbing classes are available upon request for $17 per student, or $22 per non-student.
Do you want a more one-on-one training experience? Technical climbing lessons or private instruction are available! If interested, please email rockandoutdooradventure@csulb.edu for more information.

Climbing 101: Intro to Movement
Feb. 2, Feb. 24, March 17 and April 14
2 to 3 p.m.
Improve your climbing with an introduction to foundational knowledge and tips on footwork, body positioning and energy conservation. -
Climbing 201: Belay Basics
Feb. 3, Feb. 10, Feb. 21, March 3, April 7, April 21
1 to 3 p.m.
Become familiar with the skills on the belay certification test including, knot-tying, equipment inspection, safety checks and belaying. -
Climbing 301: Learn to Lead
Feb. 17, March 10, April 20, April 28
1 to 3 p.m.
Develop your skills further to become a lead climber and belayer in an indoor setting. Apply your top-rope belaying skills in fun new ways as you get acquainted with quickdraw clipping, lead climbing and lead belaying.*
Join for a special crash course on catching and taking lead falls.
*Prerequisite: Must be top-rope belay certified through the SRWC Rock Wall in order to attend.
