Your Idea. Your Voice. Your Vote.
As you all have probably noticed from the posters and flyers all around campus, the 2022 Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Elections have begun! The first part of this election season is over. Filing for a position is now closed and informational sessions have wrapped up. What’s next you ask? Well campaigning of course! It began March 7, so keep an eye out to learn more about your candidates and their platforms.
This week we hosted our Coffee with the Candidates meet and greet events on March 9 and March 10. Students had the opportunity to chat with and learn about the candidates running this year. Attendees also received some free coffee or tea right outside of the University Bookstore.
With these events now past, the most important part of elections season is coming up––online elections! They will take place from March 14 from 12:01 a.m. to midnight on March 16. Students will have three days to vote, so make sure to check your school email for the ballot or click the “ASI Elections–Vote Here” icon in your Single Sign-On portal. Look out for a message from the Associated Students, Inc. regarding the election. All you need to do is simply click the ballot link in the email and authenticate using your Single Sign-On credentials.
When your ballot opens, you will proceed from the welcome page and begin to vote. Once you have made your selections for each of the positions, do not forget to click the “Submit” button at the end of your ballot. Once you click “submit,” your vote will be recorded, and it cannot be changed.
After the voting concludes on March 16, you are invited to the announcement of the election results at the ASI Elections Reveal Party on March 17 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in University Student Union (USU) South Plaza. Please take note that if a run-off election is necessary, campaigning and online run-off elections will occur from March 21 through March 23. If this were to happen, results of the run-off election would be announced March 24 at noon in the USU Farber Senate Chambers (USU 234).
Finally, stop by our student government “Get Out the Vote Booth” from March 14 through 16 at various locations around campus. We will be located at the Parkside North courtyard, Beach Circle by the College of Business, and the USU Southwest Terrace to remind students of the online election taking place. Stop by to pick up some ASI Elections promotional items too!
Do not forget to vote March 14 through March 16. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, feel free to contact asi-elections@csulb.edu. Happy elections season!
