Long Beach, Calif. - March 19, 2015 - CSULB students voted 56.21% to elect Miriam Hernandez as their next ASI vice president. Wendy Lewis was elected ASI treasurer with 51.3% of the votes. There will be a run-off election March 23-25 to determine the next president. The run-off election will be between presidential candidates Jose Salazar and Todd Schurr. All of the candidates worked tirelessly on their campaigns to educate students on their platforms, their commitment to CSULB and vision for the future.
Government Elections Officer Jessica Dirks was pleased with the campaign efforts of the candidates. "The candidates pushed hard and were passionate. It wasn't easy this year. I appreciate all of their hard work and expect to see a good turnout for the run-off election."
The student government elections for the Associated Students took place Friday, March 13 through Wednesday, March 18 with a voter turnout of 4,056 students; 11.47% of the student population.
