Long Beach, Calif. - August 12, 2015 - Student-run Kbeach Radio, broadcasting on 88.1FM-HD3, at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) has been ranked among the nation's top 50 college radio stations by BestColleges.com. For the last 16 years, Kbeach Radio has provided the students of CSULB with an eclectic and engaging soundtrack to accompany their college experience by bringing forth the sound of new music, current events and sports broadcasting while providing a "hands on" learning laboratory for student volunteers.
ASI Student Media Coordinator Danny Lemos attributes the recent success of Kbeach Radio to the passion for broadcasting his students bring to the table each and every day. "Our student's ability to read the pulse of the student body is one of their greatest strengths," Lemos said in a statement. "I know they don't do such great work for the recognition, but when it's acknowledged like this, we all know we're doing something right."
This year, Kbeach Radio has received seven Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) awards and claimed the number two spot for best college radio station in the nation. When asked about what this means for the upcoming year, Lemos said, "Our KBeach students and volunteers are always looking for ways to be more innovative and shake things up. We couldn't be more excited for the year ahead!"
