Long Beach, Calif. - This Friday Beach Pride Events will host its annual fall carnival, Smorgasport 2016. The signature Cal State Long Beach celebration welcomes new and returning students alike to kick-off the start of another exciting year at the Beach.
This year the carnival will house student organizations, local businesses, dance performances, inflatable games, a round-up ride, game booths, six food trucks and just about everything else a normal carnival has to offer - but with a uniquely Long Beach focus.
"It's extremely entertaining!" exclaimed Kaila Marie Hardaway, one of Smorgasport's student event programmers. "I came as an attendee my freshman year with friends from the dorm, and ended up meeting a lot of people that night. It's a great icebreaker event and there's a ton to do."
The festival has grown each year since its inception, with last year's Smorgasport boasting an approximated attendance of just over 4,500 students. The event will take place on Friday, September 2 from 7 to 11 p.m. in the University Student Union (USU) and Parking Lot 3, located directly in front of the USU.
