Essential Piece of the Puzzle
ASI Network Administrator David Mac has been working with ASI for five years, and has enjoyed every minute.
“It’s been amazing,” said Mac. “This is a very close-knit organization. When people say it’s like a work family, I can definitely see why. Everyone is very helpful and understanding, I love it here!”
After graduating from CSULB in December 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in business information systems and business finance, Mac joined the ASI Recreation team as an AB tech. Two years later, he began in his current role as network administrator.
“As a network administrator for ASI, there’s a lot I have to work with,” Mac said. “I work with all the servers and backups as well as the touch screens in the [SRWC]. There’s so many things do – it’s pretty crazy. It ranges beyond IT, because everything is very specialized. I handle our accounting software, HR software, [SRWC] software, EMS, etc.”
With his background in IT, Mac says he is fortunate enough to have friends outside of ASI that he can reach out to for help. His time with ASI as an undergraduate student also taught him how to troubleshoot problems through research, using Google and working with other people.
“I would like to thank my colleagues for welcoming me into this family,” said Mac. “It’s a pleasure working with everyone and all the different personalities. I don’t find this as work, because I love what I do and I love the people I work with.”
