ASI Beach Pride Events is ringing in 2018 in an exciting, relevant way with “An Evening With Diane Guerrero!”
Guerrero is the first major female speaker in the “An Evening With” series and a popular star in “Jane the Virgin” and the hit Netflix series “Orange is the New Black.” Guerrero, an actor, author, and immigration reform advocate, will be sharing her experiences with immigration and the entertainment business, followed by a Q&A.
“’An Evening With’ always adds a great spin to our events, because it’s always educational and important,” said fifth year liberal studies major and Lead Beach Pride Programs Assistant Jonathan Ibarra. “You’re meeting someone in a popular industry who is not only well-known but bringing to the table an important issue facing our country. We can’t ignore it.”
For more on her story, check out her compelling memoir “In The Country We Love: My Family Divided,” where she tells her story of growing up after her family was deported to Colombia when she was 14 years old.
The event will be held in the USU Ballrooms at 7 p.m. on February 6. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The event is currently sold out, but keep an eye on ASI’s social media channels to learn about opportunities to win free tickets! This event is closed to the public; valid LBSU ID is required for entry.
