Last spring, Associated Students Senate passed a resolution that formally requested that Long Beach State retire the mascot Prospector Pete. And after meeting with students, staff, administration and alumni, President Conoley announced on Sept. 20, 2018, that Prospector Pete would no longer represent Long Beach State University as the official mascot.

A new year and a new semester can only mean one thing: Week of Welcome is just around the corner! Stop by and make new connections at one of the largest events of the semester happening Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the central quad.
Due to the holidays and the USU’s Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) improvement project, the facility will be closed beginning Saturday, Dec. 22 and will reopen Monday, Jan. 7. Please note, this is one week later than originally scheduled.
